![]() ![]() Her power moves are loads of fun to play around with. Her staff even shoots short range projectiles when stationary, though you can totally jump while shooting which is pretty fun and funny to see XD The closest to the double jump is Lilac's Cyclone or Carol on her bike, but Neera's definitely works well to give her some good height. Her downward thrust with her spear though is what I use often, it feels powerful and she gives a pretty good "hruh!" She also has a double jump which actually felt completely different when I first tried her out haha. She has a few directional moves, a thrust that sends her moving which can be helpful in keeping your speed going or moving just a little bit further in the air. ![]() It's more of just an adjustment to make I feel, not so much a problem with her gameplay. Her staff offers her a good safe range that Lilac and Carol don't have but it does require some getting used to. It's just a touch bit awkward at first to hit enemies considering the hit box of her spear, you need to watch your positioning just a little bit more when fighting passing enemies. On to her gameplay! She definitely is a heavier hitter than the others, and is unique from the other girls in that she wields a weapon, her spear. ![]() Not much else has really changed from her as far as we can see between the games although I got a question about her ribbons, does this mean she's more into 'girly' things than Carol? Question for later XD But I'm still happy to see her fur a different color, being more of a blue hue certainly works well with her ice abilities. I'm sorry, I don't know what went behind that decision in the first game but it was a bit off putting to me, that said I still liked her old design, her trench coat was awesome and had some cool boots. First off I like both her designs from the two games however I do prefer the 2nd game simply because her fur isn't flesh colored. However there are a few notes I want to make in how she compares overall from the last game. So Neera is different from the others in that this is her first time being playable, so there is nothing to really compare in how she handles from the first game to the second. Not Milla's dance quite yet but another thing I've been delaying in doing for quite some time XD Here's my take on Neera's victory animation as well as my thoughts on her gameplay from the Sample Demo. ![]() ![]() ![]() Another issue that frequently annoyed me is just how many times I perished. Therefore, it's a fantastic game to pick up and play for 30 minutes to an hour every once in a while so that the repetition takes longer to sink in. Speaking of drab, the gameplay of Tannenberg is great fun but it does become exceptionally repetitive after playing it for an extended period of time. Although the maps are elaborate and full of the tension of war, I found the environmental visuals to be decent although a bit drab which I guess is authentic but it also wore me down after a while. Plus, as you play, you'll discover strategies and intricacies that you may not have noticed when you first started playing which is quite rewarding. You can also get snagged on barbed wire, call in support at certain base types, pick up found weapons, throw bombs that emit poison gas, and perform melee attacks. Every map features plenty of trenches and occasional structures that add a level of strategy to conquering territory, especially when you factor in super-powerful turret stations. The maps themselves take place across Eastern Europe and they are each intricate and impressively large. Okay, let's take over the next base or get shot trying! Capturing bases while the tug-of-war persists is a brilliant formula that offers oodles of online fun. You can also enjoy Attrition team deathmatches and Rifle Deathmatch battle royal bouts if you wish although the vast majority of players are playing Maneuver mode. Anyway, the main mode is Maneuver where you try and claim territory on a map in order to gradually deplete the opposing team's resources. With that being said, I'm fairly certain that they didn't have automatic respawn technology in the early 20th century. However, there are many details such as the aforementioned methodical reloading that make it feel like a genuine WWI experience. The core gameplay of Tannenberg is exactly what you'd expect as you traverse maps while shooting enemy soldiers and trying not to get shot. Therefore, if you love history then you'll definitely dig this. Speaking of which, I appreciated watching my soldier reload the various firearms that I equipped as it's interesting to see him do things like place bullets one at a time into the barrel as opposed to merely snapping in a large capacity magazine. Instead, you have to utilize weaponry that generally takes a long time to load yet remains deadly nonetheless. Seeing as it takes place within the Eastern Front of WWI, you won't be using high-powered modern firearms to take out your opponents. However, Tannenberg seemed appealing to me so I decided to give it a go and I'm quite impressed with what it has to offer. Tannenberg is the second installment in the M2H and BlackMill Games WWI series the first being Verdun which I haven't played. ![]() □□ You're never safe, even when you're ducking down in the trenches │ At Video Chums, accessibility is important and we go to great lengths to ensure that it's easy for everyone to enjoy our content. ![]() There's certainly no shortage of online first-person shooters but playing one set over a century ago is an interesting experience. Get rid of the ground-floor window on that side and put a door there instead. Use oak for the base of the porch on the right side of the house. The length doesn’t matter right now because we’re about to make the side porch. Place a “ladder” of two side by side dark oak fences hanging down from the roof near the window. It could be cute to put the panes on one side of the window instead, to look like it’s open and Moomin has just crawled out. It’s on the right side of the roof, centered. You can decide whether you want to add that using some type of fence, but I think it adds cute detail to an otherwise pretty geometric build. In some pictures of Moominhouse including the one above there’s a string connecting the chimney and the spire, but in other pictures there isn’t. The chimney is topped by an anvil with a dark colored trap door on top of it. The chimney is two blocks back from the spire, on the left side of the roof, and it starts on the roof layer we made in picture 3. I’m using the dull brown bricks that are made by double stacking carved granite slabs in Mizunos, but I think normal granite or stone bricks would work just as well. The outer layer is half a block lower and is a ring around that.Ĭap off the roof with a little quartz spire, and add the chimney. In 1, the inner layer of half slabs is level with the top of the blue wall. The roof is pretty complicated, but I’ve got it sliced layer by layer here. ![]() Make the cellar door, putting the trap doors over the andesite blocks instead of a slab. It’s to make the cellar look dark inside. Raise the andesite, or whatever dark colored block of your choice, up by one and replace the blue block next to it with the same color. Now for the root cellar on the left side of the house. You can hang a lantern from the most exterior one. Put birch slabs on the underside of the roof’s 2 middle blocks nearer to the house. The roof is a stair block on each side and a full block on top. There’s no way for the diagonal windows to not look weird at some angle, but making them with the sill pointing towards the front is the cutest when you’re approaching the build.įront porch time: add an oak door, stone brick stairs to the edge, birch fence, and a red nether brick roof (alternatively if you’re doing this in default and don’t like the look of red nether brick, alternate brick and accacia). Better bridging the gap between our in-the-box mechanics and a more tactile, hardware-oriented navigation and interaction. Over the years, as we collectively found comfort in our ‘all bells and whistles’ DAW environment, many developments took place between DAW design and MIDI controller software to create a more fluid, and musical, experience. For a while, if a musical inputting device was used, it was often a simple and affordable piano keyboard controller – far from the complexity of control and ease of workflow we’re used to today. The role of the programmer also became more prominent with many new generations of creatives crafting their music using just a mouse and computer keyboard. ![]() Alongside the evolution of more powerful and affordable home computers, the pain of a hardware recall soon became forgotten, replaced by the convenience of ‘saving all’. The start of this new era was when the accessibility of music-making started to broaden through virtualised studio environments. The sonic limitations which then became characteristics of classic sample based drum machines have been approximated in Maschine’s sampler to borrow some of that classic vibe VST plug-ins had already arrived in 1996, but coupled with VST Instruments (VSTi) in 1999, this represented a sea change in the standardised software-based studio and a move away from the costs of what were becoming perceived as dusty old hardware studio tools. Around this time, a turning point occurred, as PCs (and pricey Macintoshes) were becoming powerful enough to run modest audio/MIDI sequencing and audio recording. This would require all sound sources to be external ie, hardware drum machines, sound modules, synthesisers and samplers. Towards the late 1990s, unless you were running a Commodore Amiga as your affordable 8-bit, domestic priced sequencer and sampler, the main accessible choice for bedroom producers was an Atari ST running Cubase for MIDI sequencing. To set the scene for Maschine’s first arrival, it’s important to understand the major shifts through the 2000s. Akai’s MPC60 set the early standard for workstation design, it was later expanded and relaunched in 1994 as the MPC3000 Computer love These later hardware-based incarnations all have their own stories of success, but there was soon a major shift in music-making which happened towards the end of the 1990s that would alter the course the entire music production landscape forever. ![]() Some catered towards MIDI sequencing and sampling, others focussed purely on standalone sampling units with the user needing their own form of MIDI sequencer.
